Colours, Showers, Girlfriends, and Work

So a week of sitting on my sofa has changed nothing. I am still in a cast - all be it an aircast version - I have learnt some interesting new skills (more on that in a minute) but generally I have just sat and got fat (yes I was fat before but now I am also lumpy and soft to go with it!)

I have seen a multitude of colour on my foot, the way it starts is by swelling - then it goes yellow and brown and then, just when you think it cant look any more disgusting a stream of what must be trauma blood from the day of the accident litterly leaks into your foot - through it from top to bottom - all the way into your heel. Yuk. The doctor didnt tell me much about that...

On a more positive note:

Top skills learnt:

Showering with a cast - think chairs, garbage bags and rope - no pictures of that one (I have them but keeping those for my girlfriend only!)

Hopping - a great skill if you cant be arsed with crutches every step - painful but you do get good at it after 7 days of hopping . I could win any hopping contest known to man at the moment.

Cooking whilst setting your jeans on fire - Unexpected yes - however a real danger if you have to keep your leg elevated next to the gas hob cooker...

Dressing and Undressing - never seemed so hard. Think wiggle - think large - comfortable clothing - mind you at least that fits!

Other things I have learnt:

Girlfriends - let me all tell you - ensure you have one if you're planning to break your foot - if not - get one urgently. They are a life saver. The internet can cover a lot of angles - but when you need a little love, some help and a pint of milk it's not the greatest at being able to deliver these instantly.

Work - dont try to go too early. I feel like a caged animal most days in the flat - but let me tell you that work is no better. Instead of a caged animal you can now be a spectacle for all and still be expected to get stuff done. Besides that - it's not the work time that is the problem - getting into and out of work is nearly impossible... Painful to say the least.

Ok - that's it for this post - promise to get a little more active!
